Playing with Colours ….. I

India has a vast tradition of decorating floors and house entrances with various colours (both wet and dry) with numerous shapes, forms and designs.

ALPONA

Alpona is a typical Bengali style of decorating the floor of the house with varied designs and forms. It consists of a white paste made from grinding rice with water.

Entrance Alpona

Adorning the entrance of each door with floral motifs  and shapes depicting rice , feet of the Goddess are pretty common among the Alpona designs

Well, these pictures were taken during this year’s Durga and Lakshmi puja….and I loved the diya in the first of the gallery!!
