India has a vast tradition of decorating floors and house entrances with various colours (both wet and dry) with numerous shapes, forms and designs.
Alpona is a typical Bengali style of decorating the floor of the house with varied designs and forms. It consists of a white paste made from grinding rice with water.
Adorning the entrance of each door with floral motifs and shapes depicting rice , feet of the Goddess are pretty common among the Alpona designs
